Firefighters battled a blaze in a stable yard for three hours that has left owners devastated.

They were called to the yard in Field Common Lane, Walton, at 1.50am today, following reports of a fire.

The owners of the yard took to Facebook to express sadness at the damage they now have to deal with, alongside the loss of almost everything they need to keep the stables running.

Tracey Lucky Morgan wrote: “Devastated would be an understatement... Thank god my boys where out.. We have been left with nothing.. Head collars, rugs, buckets, bridles, electric posts, the list is endless. Literally the rugs on the boys backs is all that’s left. Everything gone... If anyone has anything even an old bucket or brush I would be eternally grateful, it has all gone.”

It is believe no horses or people were hurt in the fire.

Taniee Morgan posted: “[Our yard] Was torched by someone last night, we have lost over £5k worth of stuff. Heartbroken isn’t the word.”

The Hersham community has rallied to help the yard and two Go Fund Me groups have been set up with donations already given, to help get them get back on their feet.

Surrey Police spokesman said: “Surrey Police is investigating a suspicious fire at stables off Field Common Lane in Walton.

“The fire took place in the early hours of this morning and officers attended alongside Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.

“There were no reports of any injuries or that any animals were harmed as a result of the fire.

“Police are working with fire investigators to establish the cause of the fire and are reviewing local CCTV and carrying out house to house enquiries in the area.”
