People can drop off firearms and ammunition during an amnesty being run by Surrey Police.
For two weeks, people who give up firearms will not be prosecuted for offences of possessing them illegally, although police reserve the right to investigate if weapons have been used in crimes.
Chief Superintendent Paul Morrison, head of operations command for Surrey and Sussex police, said: "Gun crime in the UK has continued to fall year on year for the past 10 years but we are not complacent.
"We must do all we can to ensure that firearms do not fall into the hands of criminals and the public can help us. This is why we are giving this opportunity for people to dispose of unwanted guns safely.
"A firearm might not be a danger in your hands but if it was stolen by a burglar and passed to other criminals it could put people's lives in danger."
The operation will run from Monday, November 10, until Friday, November 21.
Weapons and ammunition can be surrendered at local police stations. Firearms should be disarmed and put in a box or strong bag. Ammunition should be placed in a separate box or bag.
If you cannot take your firearm or ammunition to a station in Surrey, use the online reporting facility at my.surrey.police.uk/sploinereportingweb or visit surrey.police.uk for more information.
