A man in his 80s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted sexual assault and attempted kidnap.

Three alleged incidents happened in Walton on Monday, September 1, between the riverside and the Terrace Road area between 5pm and 6.30pm. Officers believe they may be linked.

The first was between 5pm and 5.20pm on the towpath.

The alleged victim, a woman in her 30s, was walking with her baby from Sullivan Reach Park toward the Anglers pub when she was approached, and allegedly sexually assaulted by a man.

A second alleged assault happened at about 5.40pm at the Anglers pub, Manor Road, where a woman was allegedly inappropriately touched by a man as she sat outside at the front.

The third alleged assault was at about 6.30pm near the Co-op in Cottimore Lane. A man approached two school-aged girls and allegedly grabbed the shoulder of one of the girls before they walked away.

Detective Constable Mike Cresswell, North Surrey CID, said: "As part of ongoing enquiries we made an arrest in connection with these incidences.

"However this remains a live investigation and I am still keen that any witnesses who were in the local area on September 1 and saw anything suspicious to come forward with any information."

The man, from Walton, has been released on bail until September 12.
