A determined fundraiser braved Hurricane Bertha to raise more than £10,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Not deterred by the torrential rain, Dick Bell from Esher joined thousands of other cyclists to complete the 86-mile Ride London event which passed through the borough on Sunday, August 10.
No stranger to fundraising challenges, Mr Bell has previously walked the south-west coast path, but the Ride London event marked his first cycle challenge.
Mr Bell said: "Cycling doesn’t come easily to me; before this, I rarely used my bike for much more than going to the shops, but watching the Ride 100 event last year inspired me to sign up.
"It’s certainly the toughest challenge I’ve ever done and the weather added to the challenge."
