Athletes braved the mud and a downpour as they took in the sights of Claygate for the village’s annual run.
The Claygate Country Five, which took place on Sunday, July 13, saw 440 runners embark on a five-mile route around the village, spurred on by friendly faces in the crowd.
Runners took part for fun and for the quickest times, with Neil Aitken completing the race in 27 minutes and 43 seconds and Hannah Mae Flynn, the fastest woman, completed the run in 34 minutes and 24 seconds.
Mr Aitken, overall winner of the Claygate Country Five, said: "The run was great. A bit muddy, but I like the mud - you expect it on a woodland course."
Christine Coffin, who took part in the run for the first time, said: "It was my first ever running race since school. I was so excited to be running in my local village and I couldn’t wait to see my kids’ faces."
The Claygate Country Five is part of the Claygate Flower and Village Show, which takes place at Claygate Recreation Ground on Saturday, July 19, from 1.30pm.
