Two Esher singers were among a 50-strong group that recently returned from a performance at Spain’s Montserrat Basilica, the Sagrada Familia and Barcelona Cathedral.

The choir is part of Sing and Discover, a company that regularly combines trips abroad and around the UK with opportunities for participants to perform.

Trip organiser Linda Metcalfe said: “To have a trip which combined all three world famous places was incredible. One would have been great, two was amazing but three was out of this world.

“For me personally, entering Sagrada Familia was one of the most overwhelming experiences I have ever had from an iconic building. It was like stepping on to a film set.”

On this occasion, the Surrey singers performed as the opening act for L’Escolonia, a world famous boys’ choir.

The group are soon to begin rehearsals in Esher for Sounds of Summer, where a number of groups will come together to form a 150-voice choir to perform at Birmingham Town Hall.
