A purpose built cabin has been installed at Sherwood House after the British Red Cross chose to use to site for its mobility aids loan service.

Deputy mayor of Elmbridge Councillor Barry Fairbank cut the ribbon at a special opening ceremony held at Walton Charity’s care home for the elderly on Friday, November 22.

British Red Cross moved their mobility aids loan service from Elm Grove, Walton, to the new purpose built cabin at Sherwood House, Severn Drive, which has been operational since September 25.

The charity helps more than 700 people in the area with physical disabilities by lending essential mobility aids.

Walton Charity made extensive changes to the site so it could serve its new purpose.

Jackie Lodge, chief executive of Walton Charity, said: “The British Red Cross is a fantastic organisation providing assistance for so many people in need. We are delighted to be able to provide support in this way.”
