A quarter of a million nappies will be donated to a family support charity for children in need.

Home-Start Elmbridge will get the nappies after Pampers created the world’s largest baby blanket to celebrate the birth of the royal baby, Prince George.

The blanket was stitched together with messages of love and support sent in from across the country and for each note Procter & Gamble (P&G) and Pampers pledged a pile of nappies for those in need.

Carol Hodges scheme manager at Home-Start Elmbridge said: “Many of the families we support are experiencing real hardship because of the recession.

“Nappies are an essential item and babies and young children get through a lot of them. These donated nappies will really help their plight.”

Janette Butler, P&G’s community matters manager, said: “Procter & Gamble are delighted to celebrate the birth of HRH Prince George with a donation of Pampers to a fantastic charity.

“We have been proud to support Home-Start Elmbridge for many years and know of the vital role that they play providing help for families in need.”
