Firefighters called to Thornton Heath moped fire

Firefighters were called this morning to put out a blazing moped in a suspected arson attack.

They were called at 4am to the fire in Bruce Road, Thornton Heath.

It took fire crews 10 minutes to put it out, with the fire blazing in front of a row of terraced houses.

Surrounding cars had to be moved because of high winds and the risk of fire spreading.

Nobody was injured as a result of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "It burned out pretty badly, it was 100 per cent alight when we arrived."

Police are investigating the cause of the fire.
