Armed police swoop after man seen with firearm

Armed police swooped on South Norwood last night after a man was seen with a firearm.

The officers were called to the High Street at 9.05pm to reports a man was seen leaving a business premises carrying a gun.

Police closed the road and asked customers in a nearby pub to stay inside as they carried out their investigations.

Within half an hour police arrested a man and had recovered an imitation firearm.

The man remains in police custody.
