A health club burned to the ground during the August Riots has been reopened by fellow businesses caught in the disaster.
Nuffield Health Centre in Norbury was forced to close after an arson attack caused more than £1m of damage.
On Thursday January 26, Trevor Reeves, from Reeves Furniture Store also destroyed in the riots, cut the ribbon at the refurbished gym and health spa alongside Chief Superintendant David Musker and Oympic hopeful, discus thrower Lawrence Okoye.
Sonia Bromfield, a member of the club for more than 15 years said: "We were in tears when we heard what had happened. It was more than losing a gym, Norbury Nuffield is a community in itself."
General Manager of Nuffield Health, Lee Seamons, said: “The gym has been a focal point for the health and fitness of the local community for almost 20 years; members and staff alike were devastated when the centre had to close.
“We received so many letters of support following the riots, and the team were determined to get the club back up and running as soon as possible.”
