Police investigating a rape in Croydon in the early hours of Christmas Eve have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to.

An 18-year old girl was standing in the Post Office doorway in Croydon town centre, having just left the Tiger Tiger Bar, waiting for friends to join her at 11.50pm on December 23.

Just after midnight, she was approached by two young men who chatted to her and offered her a lift home.

Police said she felt safe with them and accepted.

They walked off along the High Street, through St George's Walk Shopping Centre and got into a parked car.

The men did not drive the girl home; instead they drove her to a car park where she was raped. They left her in the Whitehorse Lane area of South Norwood where she was found by a member of the public.

The incident is being investigated by the Sapphire team based at Sutton Police Station.

Poice are looking for a black man, about 18-25 years old, with short black hair, wearing light blue jeans and a dark jacket.

The second man is mixed race, also about 18-25 years old, wearing a black coat.

Detective Constable Sandi Allison, said: "I am anxious to hear from anyone who was in the area that night, the day before Christmas Eve into the early morning of Christmas Eve.

"Did you see anything of the incident, or did you see the victim with the men at any point from the time they first started talking to her outside the Post Office doorway, to their walk through the High Street towards St George's Walk shopping centre or when they dropped her in South Norwood?"
