Eric Cantona says his one regret about his infamous kung fu attack on a Crystal Palace fan is that he did not hit him harder.
Cantona, 42, dismissed the attack at Selhurst Park in 1995 as just a “drama”, according to the Sunday Mirror.
“I didn’t punch him strong enough,” Cantona is quoted as telling the paper. “I should have punched him harder.”
The French player’s attack came after being sent off while playing for Manchester United.
Bricklayer Matthew Simmons goaded the player, who then leapt over an advertising board to kick the football fan in the chest then punch him.
Cantona, who is now an actor and manager of the French beach football team, was suspended for nine months and ordered to serve 120 hours of community service.
