Moss is world's second richest model

Kate Moss may have earned £4.4 million last year but it was only enough to reach second place among the world's highest paid supermodels.

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen earned four times a much as Croydon-born Kate in the past 12 months - a total of £16.2 million.

Heidi Klum, married to the singer Seal, was just behind Moss in third place.

Forbes used estimated earnings in 2006, as well as recent campaigns, press coverage and the opinion of industry experts to compile the list of the 15 highest paid catwalk queens.

Moss lost a string of lucrative contracts when she was snapped allegedly snorting lines of cocaine at a recording studio in 2005.

But the 33-year-old, who recently split from controversial singer Pete Doherty, made a successful comeback.

She has launched a range of clothes at Topshop and won contracts with designer Stella McCartney and Italian sportswear company Belstaff.

Gisele, 26, was reportedly discovered by a modelling agent as she ate a Big Mac with friends in McDonalds.

The ex-girlfriend of the actor Leonardo DiCaprio appears in adverts for Apple, Dolce and Gabbana and Roberto Cavalli and has a line of sandals.
