Passengers attempting to travel between East Croydon and Gatwick Airport are facing major disruption this morning because of a broken rail.

Delays were first reported at 10am this morning, are expected to last until at least 1pm this afternoon.

Network Rail are currently working to fix the problem, and have warned that trains may be cancelled, delayed or changed until the rail is fixed.

Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express trains are all being affected, but tickets are now being accepted on any of the services.

Souther customers are being warned that some trains will not be stopping at stations between Redhill and Purley, although customers can also use their tickets on bus route 405.

East Croydon faced further disruption earlier this morning, with trams being cancelled between East Croydon and Reeves Corner due to traffic congestion and delays and cancellations between Oxted and East Croydon after a passenger was taken ill on a train.
