A boy has suffered "multiple injuries" after being hit by a car in South End.

Paramedics rushed to South End just after 2.34pm after receiving reports of the collision.

A London Ambulance spokesman said the boy was treated for "multiple injuries" before being taken to a south London hospital as a priority.

Police closed off South End between Coombe Road and Spice's Yard following the reported collision.

A staff member from a business in South End said the boy, who he thought to be "about 14 or 15", had been hit by the car outside Tre Fratelli restaurant at about 3pm.

The man, who did not wish to be named, added: "The kid seemed consious from what I could see but they closed off the road so it must have been serious."

Fatima Feranadef, manager of Tre Fratelli restuarant, said she did not see the accident but went outside afterwards to see "at least four" paramedics working on the teenager.

She added: "We didn't hear no brakes, either me or my customers, so if there was brakes it was very, very low.

"There were about four paramedics working around the child, if not more.

"I went to ask if they needed anything but they said 'no, everyhting is ok'."

She said two ambulances attended the accident and the driver of the car stopped and was assisting police.

Drivers have been advised to expect "severe delays" and diversions in South End.

A staff member at Croydon Pharmacy said the road remained closed at about 3.45pm.

The Metropolitan Police could immediately be contacted for comment.
