A new playground designed by the children who will use it has opened in Coulsdon.
The Grange Park playground comes complete with slides, see-saws, swings and roundabouts and is designed for children of all abilities.
The Friends of Grange Park, working with Croydon Council, secured £50,000 funding from Biffa Award, a fund for community and environmental projects across the UK, on top of £19,999 funding from the London Marathon fund.
The playground was officially opened with a village celebration on Saturday, September 10.
Designed by 150 children and based on the local heritage and landscape such as the Kenley Airfield and River Bourne, it replaces a 25-year-old playground that was no longer fit for use.
Chris Wright, chairman of the Friends of Grange Park, said: “I know it will give a great deal of pleasure to our young people for many years and will be a fine asset for the Old Coulsdon community.”
