Commuters using Southern trains today may have difficulty getting to their destination - a shortage of conductors due to sickness is causing delays.
A statement on the company's website said: "Although we aim to run a normal service on May 19, Southern services are continuing to being affected by a high level of conductor sickness, which is leading to short notice cancellations on some routes."
@SouthernRailUK am wondering if passengers should strike or be off to sickness? Pls fwd to all ur followers so we can debate #southernrail

Yesterday services were disrupted after members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport union staged industrial action over the company's plan to introduce driver only trains.
The union claims the change in service could lead to some conductors losing their jobs.
