Detectives have released images of two Rolex watches they believe could hold the clue to solving a £120,000 bank fraud.

Police today appealed for help to find the "expensive and distinctive watches", together worth £85,000, bought with money stolen from a Croydon bank customer.

They believe finding the watches will help them trace two women who posed as the customer to take over their account at a Santander branch in North End on June 3.

One of them is said to have used forged documents to convince bank staff the account was hers and add a teenage boy, pretending to be her grandson, as a second signatory.

Police are looking for these two women in connection to the fraud

After the change was processed, fraudulent transactions worth £120,940 were made from the account.

Some of money was used to buy three Rolex watches from Westfield shopping centre in Shepherd's Bush and from a shop in central London.

The watches included two Sky-Dweller models and a Daytona.

The Dedicated Card and Payment Crime Unit, a joint operation between the City of London and Metropolitan police forces, released images of two women wanted in connected to the fraud earlier this month.

They arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection to the fraud but have not yet traced the women.

Detective Constable Damian Ward, who is leading the investigation, said: "These two women walked into a Croydon bank and apparently changed a customer’s account details so they could remove tens of thousands of pounds.

"We now need the public’s help to identify and then track down the pair of them so they can be brought in for questioning."
