Pop star Dane Bowers attacked his ex-girlfriend, the former Miss Wales, in a row over glitter, a court has heard.

The former Another Level singer hit ex-fiancée Sophia Cahill in the face, leaving her with a bloody nose, just seconds after he changed her son's clothes, Croydon Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.

The 35-year-old is said to have attacked her on Thursday, January 29 at the couple's Croydon home.

Magistrates heard Mr Bowers had to be woken up twice by Miss Cahill as he slept on a living room sofa so he could take her to work.

Miss Cahill said the singer had been heavily snoring and she thought Mr Bowers may still have been drunk.

Later Miss Cahill said that she had noticed glitter on his face and pointed to it as he was changing her two-year-old son.

She then confronted him about what he had been up to the night before.

Miss Cahill said that despite the pair having separated after their three-year relationship ended, they had agreed not to sleep with other people in the house while they were living together.

But the model said that Mr Bowers had caused trust issues when she caught him in bed with another woman.

Miss Cahill then told the court that Mr Bowers backhanded her, gripped both her shoulders and threw her out of her son's room before slamming the door shut.

The model went back in the room as she said she was worried about her son.

She told the court she slapped Mr Bowers and that, in response, he punched her in the face causing her to have a nose bleed.

Mr Bowers denies the charge of assault by beating against him and claims he acted in self defence.

The case was adjured until Monday, September 14.
