A sports centre is opening its doors to the community, two years after the old one closed down.

The old Monks Hill Sports Centre closed on April 30, 2013, after 40 years, to make way for a new building attached to Quest Academy in Farnborough Avenue, Selsdon.

On April 25 the public will be invited in to meet the staff and see the facilities that are available for them to use.

They include a sports hall, gym, artificial pitch and multi-use games area.

Opening hours for public use will be 6pm to 11pm weekdays, 9am to 5pm weekends, and 8am to 11pm school holidays.

Croydon Council’s executive director for place Jo Negrini said: “This is a fantastic new centre that we are delighted to be able to open for members of the public to use and enjoy.

“We look forward to seeing lots of people come along for the opening on April 25, where they will get the chance to meet the new team.”
