A moped rider died after crashing into a wall in South Croydon.
The man, 25, suffered head injuries in the collision just after 6pm on Sunday on Coombe Lane, near the entrance to Royal Russell School.
He was pronounced dead at the roadside despite paramedics fighting to save him.
Police and London's Air Ambulance also attended.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A post-mortem examination and formal identification will be scheduled in due course. Next of kin have been informed."
Officer's from the force's serious collision unit are investigating the crash.
A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 6.02pm to Coombe Lane, Croydon to reports of a road traffic collision.
"We sent two ambulance crews and duty station officer to the scene.
"Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene."
