A nursery manager is still waiting for Mr Right - after turning down 14 marriage proposals from Mr Wrongs.

Sonia Poleon, from Norbury, has disappointed a string of men over 12 years because  none of the suitors ticked all the boxes on her lengthy list of requirements.

But she has not given up on finding love in Croydon.

The mother-of-four, who runs Little Saints Day nursery in Parchmore Road, Thornton Heath, said: "They have been lacking a certain 'je ne sais quoi'.

"They have not fulfilled the requirements of the list yet. But I do hope to get married one day."

Ms Poleon, 52, refused to help out any admirers by revealing her essential criteria for a husband.

But while none of Croydon's men have yet to fit the bill, she does not blame the borough's blokes.

She said: "I'm not going to disrespect any man in Croydon.

"It's not where they come from, it's who they are as a person."

Ms Poleon, who also hosts a show on digital station Colourful Radio, described herself as "attractive" but "not exceptionally attractive".

She believes it is her "go-getting" personality that draws men to her.

The 52-year-old said: "I am quite a friendly person, quite balanced and it's my caring nature.

"I am a very driven person, very much a go-getter, so I think people see people see that in me and say, 'I could do with someone like her.'"

With a string of admirers queuing up to ask for her hand in marriage, Ms Poleon has inevitably encountered jealously.

But after her 21-year marriage to her first husband ended in divorce, she refuses to rush into another.

She said: "Some people do say 'hurry up, hurry up", it's time you got married', but I'm not just getting married just for the sake of it.

"Some people say 'I haven't had one offer, she's had 14. She doesn't want to get married.'

"I do but I just don't want to marry the wrong person."
