A burst water main has caused traffic chaos in Wellesley Road.
Some drivers were reported to have abandoned their cars amid gridlock as engineers carry out emergency repairs.
The leak, which began yesterday afternoon, has forced the closure of the road's northbound carriages.
They are not expected to reopen until Sunday.
Thames Water has shut off the supply to buildings, including some homes, near the burst main.
Wellesley Road is currently heavily congested between Park Lane and College Road.
