A 14-year-old girl has been found dead in a house in Thornton Heath.

The girl, named by friends as Ashdon and understood to be a pupil at Norbury Manor Business and Enterprise College, died suddenly in Mersham Road on Saturday. 

Police are not treating her death as suspicious. 

Friends paid tribute to the teenager on social media, with several reporting she had been bullied.

One, @TeeMarieeX, said on Twitter: "in total disbelief still! found out yesterday but i just couldnt believe it beautiful princess we love you no matter what rip ashdon".

Toks Timson wrote: "RIP Ashdon you beautiful Princess. Bullies need to stop this is so tragic just 14 now gonna because of Bullying".

A statement from her school issued by headteacher Amanda Compton said: "The whole college are deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic news of Ashdon and we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to her family at this incredibly difficult time.  

"She was a lively and intelligent student and both staff and students are struggling to come to terms with her loss."

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said this morning: "Police were called at approximately 2.15pm on Saturday, 15 November to reports of sudden death at a residential address in Mersham Road, Thornton Heath.

"Officers and London Ambulance Service attended. The deceased is a 14-year-old girl.

"Enquiries into the circumstances continue. At this stage, the death is not being treated as suspicious."
