Police uncovered a cannabis farm with a crop worth £25,000 during a raid in South Norwood yesterday morning.

Officers found 50 mature plants, as well as hydroponic equipment that can be used to cultivate them, when they searched the house in Hambledon Road.

Two men have been arrested and charged with production of cannabis.

Alexandru-Gabriel Stefan, 26, and Klodjan Mukaj, 28, both of Hambledon Gardens, are due to appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court via video this morning.

Mr Mukaj is also charged with abstracting electricity.

Police called engineers to switch off the electricity supply to the raided house yesterday for safety reasons.

Constable Ross Sandiford, of the Metropolitan Police, said: "This is the second cannabis factory my team has shut down in as many months.

"The last factory uncovered 400 cannabis plants and resulted in a male suspect being sentenced to eight months imprisonment.

"Electricity supplies that have been tampered with make cannabis factories unstable and dangerous to surrounding properties."
