A special constable has been given a final warning after using his warrant card to travel between Epsom and London Waterloo.

Special Constable Larry Crawford was found to be "misusing his travel privileges" following a case hearing that took place yesterday (March 22).

It was alleged that on June 19 and 20, 2017, Special Constable Crawford used his warrant card to travel by train without a valid ticket or an ATOC Rail Travel Card.

Known informally as 'specials', Special Constables are part-time volunteers for the police force with full police powers when on and off duty.

Special Constable Crawford, attached to Enfield borough, was accused of breaching police standards of 'honesty and integrity, discreditable conduct and orders and instructions'.

The Chair found the allegations proven as gross misconduct.

Taking into consideration mitigating evidence, Special Constable Crawford was given a final written warning.
