The festivals just keep coming for Croydon.

Earlier this month it was announced that Croydon would be getting its very own house and techno music festival.

Now the borough's first Festival of Peace has got the go-ahead, after news came out that it had been fully funded with help from the the Arts Council of England as well as Croydon Council.

REALTED: Croydon is getting its very own house and techno music festival

This was music to festival director Katie Rose's ears.

“It is wonderful that this funding has been given to support our community to come together and reflect on what peace means to us this summer," she said.

"This festival is only possible because of the generous, collaborative community spirit in Croydon and we would like to thank all our partners and supporters.

"We are looking forward to celebrating with you all in June.”

But what exactly will this peace extravaganza entail?

Well the week-long showing will include film, art and music events, all kicking off with a performance from the London Mozart Players’ and the Ecclesbourne School choir.

Paula Murray, creative director of Croydon Council said: "This will be a lovely new event for Croydon and with a focus that is really positive and inclusive.

"It is a refreshingly different event to have in the centenary year of the end of the Great War, an event that highlights the importance of peace."

The festival will kick off at Wandle Park on June 16 and run through until June 23.
