Epsom Post Office has returned to the High Street after a year away, along with the opening of a new cards, gifts and stationery shop.

Chris Grayling, Epsom and Ewell MP, cut the ribbon with postmaster Nidhi Prashar on Friday, February 23, at the new location at number 59.

The previous branch, at 74, High Street, closed in January 2017, and a temporary site operated from July 2017 at the town hall, facilitated by Epsom and Ewell Borough Council.

One benefit of the new branch is longer opening hours – an extra 11 per week compared to the temporary location.

Mr Grayling said: “It is wonderful to have Epsom Post Office back at the heart of Epsom’s shopping area. Thanks to Nidhi Prashar for opening this Post Office and shop. These fully refurbished premises look great – modern and welcoming. The longer hours and Saturday opening will really benefit customers.”

The new branch takes the place of the old Carphone Warehouse, opposite Greggs.

Mrs Prashar said: “Customers are delighted to have a Post Office back on the High Street in a permanent location. The former High Street location was dark and run down. My new branch is very light, bright and modern and customers really appreciate all the improvements. The longer opening hours and High Street location will make it more convenient for customers to visit.”
