Love Kingston is looking for groups and projects to support with its latest batch of grants.

Schemes and organisations working to combat social isolation in the Royal Borough of Kingston can now bid for up to £3,000 towards their efforts.

In particular, Love Kingston is looking to fund projects that address “poverty, disadvantage and isolation” and “encourage community cohesion”.

A recent week of fundraising, beginning on February 9, raised £20,000.

Events included the Mayor’s Gala Dinner, cake sales, art displays at Aspire Nursery and Learn English at Home and a Love Kingston radio show at the Kingston Environment Centre.

Community fundraising manager Tessa Kind said: “It was amazing; we were overwhelmed. Being selected as the mayor’s chosen charity has really enhanced everything we have done.

“It’s really lovely seeing the community supporting each other, and seeing what Love Kingston is all about. Of course the money is important but it’s also about connecting people, opening doors and creating opportunities for people.”

The deadline for grant applications is midnight on April 7.
