A six-year-old boy from Sutton felt inspired to do something after his mum told him about the recent Iranian earthquake one night.

The next morning the Manor Park Primary School pupil asked his mum how he could help.

Rodin Saravi wrote a letter to the Royal Mail enquiring as to whether he could send some of his clothes and toys to Iran where over 400 people died in the earthquake this month.

His mother, Salome Ozgoli, told Sutton Guardian: “It made me really proud. He has a blue jacket that he really loves and he even put that in.

“He wanted to give all his toys away too.”

The Royal Mail replied to little Rodin and provided 100 first class stamps to fund the international package and they are also sending a thank you gift to the boy.

Salome added: “Rodin was so happy with The Royal Mail’s reply. He is even asking some of his school friends to donate some of their toys.”

In his letter, sent on November 14, Rodin wrote: “As you know a terrible earthquake happened in Iran. I want to help people there as my family and friends are very upset.

“I want to send my clothes and food to them. I can collect from my friends as well.

“It would be great if you could kindly help me to send them to Iran.”

Rodin has already donated some clothes to the country via Iran Air which was organised by Hafez School in Sutton.

He is now planning to buy small toys to send to Iran with his new international stamps.
