A popular Teddington charity shop inspired by retail guru Mary Portas is back following its closure for repairs.

Mary's Living and Giving reopened on the High Street last weekend with a display of affordable fashion.

Brought back to its best by an army of fun volunteers, it is Save the Children’s most successful UK shop with its eclectic mix of clothing and has been busy ever since.

It embodies Mary Portas’ philosophy of inspiring the community and bringing it to life.

One visitor said: "Welcome back. We have all missed you so much in Teddington. This shop is the heart and soul of the High Street –can’t wait to see what delights are in store."

Another said: "My trolley automatically steers me here."

Delights snapped up since Saturday include Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen dresses and a Stella McCartney jacket.

By resolving wardrobe dilemmas the ML & G team are simultaneously helping children in crisis. For every £1 spent, 89p benefits children directly.

"Fashion is the bows and ribbons of what we offer but humanity is at our core," said Paul Hunwick, the man who defined the ML&G brand.

Items still available for ladies include a stunning Missoni Coat and brand new stock from Whistles and Eileen Fisher. For men, brand new Hawes & Curtis shirts, and Paul Smith suits.

Behind the shop’s upbeat vibe are managers Jackie Beedle and Andrea Bailey.

Jackie, a former Whistles merchandiser and fashion co-ordinator for the first Next Directory, said: "I love the idea that we can sell to 4 generations, we are not label snobs, but edit donations to make an attractive mix to suit the individual."
