Not even scorching temperatures could stop revellers from enjoying themselves at the recent Crystal Palace Overground Festival.

The return of the event saw more than 10,000 eager people flood Crystal Palace Park.

Held over the course of a week, the festival combined more than 80 events as festival director Noreen Meehan said all the hard work and preparation paid off.

“A great line up and location plus the hottest weekend of the year delivered scenes of thousands of people enjoying themselves in a peaceful and joyous community atmosphere,” she said.

“We hit our licensed capacity of 10,000 mid-afternoon and many thousands more passed in and out of the festival during the day to enjoy our beautiful site and packed programme.”

With events such as live music, theatre, visual arts and crafts and much more, it would’ve been hard to pick a favourite.

Ms Meehan did note a few special people who made the festival the spectacle that it was.

“There’s too many great performances and activities to mention but I would like to particularly thank Morcheeba who wowed the crowd with their great performance closing the show on a very special day,” she said.

“We are mainly volunteer run and led so a huge thank you is due to our great staff members and hundreds of incredible volunteers.”
