A scammer conned an elderly woman out of nearly £5,000 in a ‘courier fraud’.

The fraudster tricked the woman, who is from around Tadworth, into believing she was helping him investigate a scam at her bank.

The victim received a phone call asking her to withdraw thousands of pounds and hand it over to a courier who turned up at her home address at about midday on Thursday, March 23, to collect the money, her cards and a bank statement.

The scam left the victim £4,800 out of pocket.

Surrey Police is investigating the faud, and has released an image of a man they believe may be able to help the force with its investigation.
