This the moment a man was attacked with nunchucks by bungling motorbike thieves before a neighbour chases them away in Norbury.

Croydon Police say the bike’s owner was initially carrying the weapon while trying to ward them off but one of the suspects managed to grab them from his hands.

One of the crash helmet-wearing pair starts swinging the nunchucks towards the 46-year-old before the dramatic footage shows them wrestling against a car.

Detectives say the two men, also wearing balaclavas, arrived on a stolen motorbike in Amulls Road just before 1.30pm on December 10.

One attempted to steal a three-wheeled motorcycle parked in the street before being confronted by its owner.

The victim received injuries to his hand before the two men fled, running off towards Gibson Hill and abandoning their vehicle.

The first suspect is described as wearing a dark coloured jacket with a red logo on the back, black trousers with a blue line down the side, black trainers with white soles and gloves.

The other was wearing a dark jacket with grey at the top, dark trousers, black trainers with white soles and a helmet with a Nike tick on the back.

Detective Constable Ania Casey, investigating officer from Croydon, said: "If the owner had not locked his motorbike with a heavy chain, his bike may have been taken in seconds.

"Those extra minutes were sufficient enough to alert the owner and his neighbours to deter the two suspects.

"I would urge anyone with information or who witnessed the incident to call officers via 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
