More than 80 Richmond businesspeople gathered at the House of Lords to raise their concerns about leaving the EU.
The event, in association with the Richmond and Twickenham Times, was the launch of a year-long initiative by Richmond Chamber of Commerce entitled 'Brexit - What does it mean for your business'.
It provided a chance for local businesses to engage with peers and MPs to begin discussing opportunities and threats arising from legislation expected over the next 12 months.
A Q&A panel was chaired by Sunday Times Rich List editor Ian Coxon, with guests including Baroness Kramer, Lord Haskel, Lady Hamwee, Lord Lee of Stafford, Richmond and Wandsworth councils CEO Paul Martin and Twickenham MP Tania Mathias.
Anne Newton, chamber of commerce CEO, said: “Concerns were raised by many businesses about the implications of leaving the EU for their businesses and consequently all panel members urged us to lobby them as early as possible in the political policy planning process, such that wherever possible, they could act in the interest of Richmond, whether in the formulation of legislation or in requesting the provision of services to aid business.”
