Country music legend Mervyn Conn has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for rape and indecent assault.
Conn, 82, of Convent Way, Wimbledon was found guilty of two counts of rape – one of a girl under 16 and one of a woman over 16 – and one count of indecent assault on a girl under 16 at Kingston Crown Court on Tuesday, October 18.
He must serve at least seven years of his sentence behind bars, and will be made to sign the sex offenders register.
The music mogul, who made his name working with Dolly Parton, the Beatles and Johnny Cash, carried out the sexual attacks between 1972 and 1985 in Westminster and Wimbledon.
Conn was arrested at Gatwick Airport in July 2015 after allegations against him were made to the police in March 2014. He was charged on February 2, 2016.
After he was charged, two other women also came forward with allegations against him.
Conn was also found not guilty of one count of indecent assault on a woman over 16-years-old and two counts of indecent assault on a girl under the age of 16-years-old. Another charge of indecent assault was not preceded with.
