An arrest warrant issued for a man accused of rape has been withdrawn after it emerged police sent his court summons to the incorrect address.
Myles Wiltshere, 24, failed to attend Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, provoking police to issue a warrant for his arrest.
However a confused Mr Wiltshere of Patcham Court, Brighton Road, Sutton, contacted police the next day after reading about the warrant to explain he had received no correspondence.
A spokesman for the police admitted the court summons had been sent to an incorrect address and confirmed Mr Wiltshere has since attended court over the allegation.
The rape is alleged to have taken place on August 30 last year.
