Police closed off Mitcham town centre yesterday evening for a 'security incident' with police reportedly telling residents they had carried out a controlled explosion on a bag outside Morrisons.
Police warned last night of the incident saying traffic would be "very bad".
The Met Police said today the incident in London Road, Mitcham, at about 7.10pm was a false alarm.
