Calling all over-50s - Age UK has announced a host of activities to keep you fit and entertained this autumn.

Wimbledon Times:

Zumba, bowls, country house day trips, belly-dancing, knitting and singing are all featured in Merton's 13th Celebrating Ageing Festival line-up.

The festival, which aims to raise the profile of older people and encourage them to stay healthy in body and mind, will run from September 7 to 26.

Here are some of our picks:

Lawn Bowls Taster Session: Join the fun at Wimbledon Park Bowls Club, voted third best bowls club last year by Bowls England. All equipment and coaching included.

Tea and Dance: Spend an afternoon pretending you're at the Ritz with delicate sandwiches, clotted cream and jam scones and a variety of teas, followed by a post-lunch waltz, tango cha cha cha and quickstep to the tune of a live band.

Touring Cinema: Enjoy a range or archive films showing scenes of a bygone London - all presented via a mini-cinema. Free screenings will be from 10.30am to 12pm on Tuesday, September 1. To book, call 020 8545 3239.

Walk for Life: Getting out in the fresh air improves your health and can help you make new friends too. Join a group at Morden Hall Park for a 50 minute stroll, with a 15-30min option for beginners. No booking is required.

To join in, meet at the National Trust Cafe in Morden Hall Park at 10.30am on Monday, Sept 7 or 14.

Country House Tour: Chiswick House is a magnificent villa set in beautiful gardens, just a stone's throw away in west London. Join a minibus trip on Sunday, September 13, to visit the historic house and walled kitchen garden, where you can enjoy its plentiful displays of flowers and produce. Those attending can be dropped home.
