Battersea's prospective parliamentary candidates debated on issues including affordable housing, bedroom tax and crime and young people at a hustings event last week.

More than 170 people attended Battersea Question Time, hosted by the Katherine Low Settlement and the Battersea Society, at York Gardens Community Centre, on Tuesday, April 14.

The five parliamentary candidates - Conservative Jane Ellison, Labour's Will Martindale, Luke Taylor of the Liberal Democrats, Lois Davis on behalf of the Green Party candidate and Chris Howe of UKIP - were each given three minutes at the start of the event to state their claim to the constituency seat.

The evening covered issues including social housing, affordable housing, bedroom tax, rising house prices and the regeneration of Battersea.

Other issues, including crime and young people, the health and social care act and welfare budgets were also discussed.
