An elderly woman was cut from a car after a collision in Kingston last night.

Police, London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade were called to Wood Street shortly after 7.15pm on Friday (April 17) after two cars collided outside TGI Friday's.

Three fire engines from Kingston, Surbiton and Wimbledon fire stations and a fire rescue unit were sent to the scene to help free a person trapped in a vehicle.

A Kingston firefighter said: "We had to cut the roof off the car and we released the passenger by lifting them out and onto a board and then handed over to London Ambulance Service."

A Metropolitan Police Service spokesman said the passenger was taken to hospital, but was not suffering from life threatening injuries.

No arrests have been made.

Road closures were put in place while the emergency services attended but reopened at about 9pm.
