A former stray dog from New Malden will be the star of a TV advert after winning a national competition.
Helen Bannan and her Staffordshire bull terrier cross, Honey, beat hundreds of hopefuls to win the public vote and be crowned the winners of the Blue Cross animal charity search for an advert star.
The nationwide search for a pet began last year with a series of tough ‘pawditions’ where Honey was chosen to be a finalist. Honey has come a long way since she was rescued as a two-year-old.
Her owner explains that she was an extremely skinny and nervous dog when she was rescued but teaching her to do tricks gave her a new lease of life.

Ms Bannan said: “I’m absolutely thrilled that Honey has won the public vote.
“She and I are very excited to be involved in the advert and raise awareness of the great work Blue Cross does for pets.
“I’m very proud of her performance in the Pawditions, especially as she was up against such strong competition from the other pets.”
