Enough money to buy 10,000 items from Poundland was taken in an alleged burglary in the early hours of Sunday morning.
A man in his 40s has been arrested and bailed by police investigating the burglary at Poundland in Epsom High Street.
It is believed about £10,000 was taken from a safe at the store between 5.30am and 6am.
Police were called to the shop and made enquiries which led to an arrest later the same day. The man has been released on police bail until February 27.
Detective Constable Steven Cassidy, said: "I hope the quick arrest of a man demonstrated our commitment to pursue those we suspect to be involved in crime.”
