A project commemorating the First World War was launched by Peter Snow.

More than 300 people attended the multimedia event hosted by St Paul's School on Saturday, November 15.

The event included readings from war poetry by local actors and music hall songs from the Barnes Community Choir.

A video played on the evening, created by award-winning TV director Tom Stanier, featured stories of the war told by family and members from Friendship, Independence, Support, Help (Fish), which organised the event.

Fish neighbourhood care combats loneliness of the elderly in communities and the centenary of WWI offered an opportunity to record the memories of older members.

Following the concert, the video and an exhibition focusing on the contribution by local people to the war effort will be made available for use in schools.
