A 58-year-old man arrested after a body was discovered in a car has been charged with murder.
Colin McSweeny, of Parry Road, South Norwood was charged with the murder of Shaun McSweeny, last night.
He is set to appear at Bromley Magistrates' Court today.
Police were called to Deptford Wharf, Deptford, yesterday at 3am following reports of someone trying to put a body in the Thames.
Officers later discovered Shaun's body inside a car in Evelyn Street.
The young father had sustained head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police also arrested a woman at an address in Thornton Heath in connection with the death.
Shaun's friends have taken to Facebook to pay tribute to the 24-year-old.
Daniel Marsh wrote: "Still can't believe it, only a few weeks back you were telling me you were going to grow up, knuckle down and start growing your family RIP Shaun Mcsweeny top lad! X"
Abi Jones said: "Rest in peace Shaun Mcsweeny, can't believe this could have happened to such a nice guy, thinking of all your family, friends and especially your little girl xx"
Hannah Evans wrote: "I've never been made so numb by news in my whole life, I still can't get my head around it now. Rest in peace Shaun Mcsweeny you were far too young x"
And Kev Garcia posted: "So gutting!. Such a loverly bloke!. Guna miss that ridiculously big grin of your Shaun Mcsweeny sleep tight my friend."
