Giant inflatable wrestlers, performing dogs and martial arts fighters will be among the many attractions on offer at Epsom and Ewell's popular annual fun day.

Thousands of people are expected to once again flock to Hook Road Arena for the Epsom and Ewell Borough Family Fun Day which is now in its third year.

The charity event will feature more than 140 stalls, children’s games, refreshments, a fun fair, dog show, Punch and Judy and wellbeing marquees with entertainment.

One of the organisers, Tony Axelrod, of Epsom Rotary Club, says: "It's a community and family day. It's the only event in the borough where we bring all the charity and community groups together."

In the arena, one of the biggest draws will be the Battling Cumberland Giants - huge inflatable wrestlers controlled by people underneath.

Other acts include the Southern Golden Retriever Society's display team, whose dogs perform to music, and the Great Britain Martial Arts Academy.

The motorcycling branch of the British Legion will turn out on the day and there will also be displays of vintage cars and bikes and a children’s steam train ride.

Last year, the fun day was a hailed as a great success, having attracted 12,000 people and raised £20,000 for charity.

The first event marked the 75th anniversary of the borough in 2012.

The now well-established fixture in the calendar is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Epsom and Ewell with support from Epsom and Ewell Council.

Councillor Robert Foote, Epsom's mayor, says the day will showcase the borough and the voluntary work undertaken by its residents.

He says: "Local charities, community groups, retailers and crafts come together to produce a great day out with something for everyone of all ages to enjoy."
