The great-granddaughter of a soldier who rode war horses is set to join television choirmaster Gareth Malone for a commemorative prom.
Mia Salmon will sing with the Proms Military Wives Choir during a concert, featuring puppets from the play War Horse, at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, August 3.
Mrs Salmon’s great-grandfather Private Henry Wickett was born in Epsom in 1900 and lived in Kingston Road, Leatherhead.

At the age 17 he went off to fight with the Royal Horse Artillery. He survived the Great War and painted a picture no man’s land from memory upon his return.
She said: "I am honoured to have been chosen to be part of this amazing event and it is particularly fitting the concert will remember the role women and music played during WWI."
