Police have praised a good Samaritan who was punched in the nose while trying to break-up a fight outside a nightclub.

The 19-year-old man’s face was left cut and bloodied after the brawl outside Boogie Lounge in Waterloo Road, Epsom, at 2.05am on Saturday.

Police are now hunting the attacker - a 6ft white man, in his early 20s, of average build, who wore a navy T-shirt and blue jeans on the night.

PC Dave Johns said: "The victim in this assault was punched as he attempted to intervene in a fight which had broken out outside of the club and for this he must be commended.

"If you were in area around the Boogie Lounge Club at the time of the incident and hold information which may assist us with our investigation please share this with us."

In August councillors refused Boogie Lounge’s application to stay open until 3.30am on weekdays to the relief of residents who are disturbed by revellers.
