A man who admitted sexually assaulting a woman in a nightclub queue has been placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for five years.
Mihaulas-Codrut Lacatus, 28, from East Ham, who used to work in Epsom, appeared at South East Surrey Magistrates’ Court in April, charged with two counts of sexual assault on two women at Elements nightclub in Epsom town centre.
He was alleged to have touched the women, who were talking but did not know each other, on Saturday, March 9, while they were waiting in a queue to collect their coats from the nightclub’s cloakroom, but he pleaded not guilty to both offences.
Standing trial at the court in August, Lacatus changed his plea to guilty to one offence, while the second was withdrawn.
On Monday, October 1, he was handed a 12-month community order and placed under supervision for a year.
As well as being put on the Sex Offenders’ Register, Lacatus is also required to attend a programme to redress his sexual offending.
He was ordered to pay his victim £100 in compensation, a £60 Government surcharge and £300 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
